The seemingly biggest mistake people make when it comes to acne is popping, breaking or picking at the condition. Despite all what has been said about the negative effect of popping one’s acne, I still see lots of people, especially teenagers, doing this exact thing. This is very wrong. It would only make the condition worse and even leave you with far worse situation than you ever imagined. Yes, you read that right – acne that is popped, broken or picked at cannot only go wrong but also destroy your face completely, if you are not careful.

Many people pop, break or pick at acne because they think they are “killing” or getting rid of the acne. Yes, you might end up doing this, but you also leave a kind of damage to your skin, in the wake of the popping. The damage might even end up becoming worse than the acne you were trying to get rid of in the first place.

It’s so bad that I remember a case where a cousin of mine popped acne close to her nose. This particular popping ended up causing a horrible boil that not only disfigured her face for days but was a big problem to get rid of. Note that this boil I am talking about here is that “painful sores with hard core filled with pus”. She was eventually taken to the hospital when the boil got big and the boil had to be operated upon. Yes, from just simple acne to a huge boil that got operated upon. And yes, you guessed it, it ended up costing far more money to treat than it would have if it was just still only the acne.

Since that day she and every one of us in the family have never popped or picked at acne ever again. We had all seen the dangers of doing that and were clearly scared of having the same thing happen to any of us again.

Apart from causing boils, popping acne can also leave you with scars that won’t go away, even when the acne has gone away. Such scars even end up disfiguring people for many years to come. You surely don’t want this to happen to you, now do you? Of course not!

So, if you are one of those that always pop, break or pick at your acne, it’s about time you stopped, if you don’t want to be saddled with a huge boil or face riddled with scars that won’t go away.
